CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS
BOARDS
Board of Christian Care coordinates and supervises all Church Council approved collection and distribution efforts of a charitable nature, including food bank, clothing, Giving Tree, Alms fund, Lutheran World Relief, etc. as well as ministering to those with special needs, including the elderly, disabled, handicapped, shut-ins, and any others in the congregation who are unable to regularly attend worship. This ministry includes transportation, meals, and visits to those members in need.
Board of Christian Growth includes publicizing the church through advertising, the internet, and other appropriate venues, new member follow-up, stewardship, jail ministry, the sound system, recording/duplicating for the tape ministry, and encouraging members to use their talents, time, and possession in the work of the church.
Board of Education, in conjunction with the Pastor, is in charge of all Sunday School Classes, Bible Classes, Confirmation Classes, Teacher Training Classes, Historian, Library, Vacation Bible School, and all other areas of Christian Education in the church as to conduct, materials used, and goals. The Board shall promote, plan, and implement the education programs for adults, young people, and families and implement a comprehensive Youth program.
Board of Elders consists of men of the congregation who assist the Pastor in the ministry of the Word, are spiritual in nature, worship regularly, are experienced in the life of the congregation, and are encouraged to participate in Bible Study. This includes being responsible for the spiritual welfare of specific families or individuals as well as having oversight for Music, Ushers, Altar Guild, Weddings and Funerals, Greeters, Acolytes, and Readers.
Board of Trustees cares for the grounds and facilities of the church, is responsible that the property of the congregation is kept in good repair and good appearance, and is at all times insured and protected against loss and damage. Technical knowledge is helpful, but time and a desire to help are important.
COMMITTEES
Banners are made by a group of ladies in the congregation to reflect the liturgical seasons as well as special worship days and the sacraments.
Memorial Committee reviews memorial requests from members of the congregation and allocates funds accordingly. Memorials made in memory of someone can be directed by the family to satisfy particular requests.
OTHER GROUPS
Handbell Choir is open to members in good standing of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and to Confirmation students at Mount Zion who can distinguish between left and right, can count to four, and can distinguish colors. Practice is Thursday evenings at 5:45pm (check the calendar to verify).
Voice Choir is open to members in good standing of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod with an interest and talent in singing. Practice is Thursday evenings at 7:00pm (check the calendar to verify).
Mountain Climbers (LWML) meets the second Saturday of each month in the Education Building at 9:30am. This group provides the opportunity for service within our own church. All ladies of the congregation are invited to participate.
